Coloring inside the lines

To any and all Readers,

Conformity... Ever notice how many people worry about what the "cool" thing to wear, listen to or do is? They're getting younger everyday too. I have a niece who starts school tomorrow. She came to me yesterday evening asking me if the outfit she plans on wearing for the first day of school looks stupid, because she's afraid she's going to be made fun of. Now, how do you explain to a twelve year old girl that she should just be herself and not worry about what others think of her? I personally think you can only teach that behaviour by demonstrating yourself. This is why I try to be the most original person I can be. Generally people see me as just a socially awkward person who comes off as boring. Honestly, I probably am pretty awkward, but it doesn't bother me, I like to color outside the lines. People either except you or they don't that's just the way life goes, isn't it?

If you were to go to a school today and just walk around or maybe watch the children eat there lunch, you might be surprised as to what you might see. You might see a table filled with "goth" kids, or another with "preps" or skaters, punks, rockers, geeks, ect. But conformity creates labels, doesn't it?
Labels are for filing. Labels are for clothing. Labels are not for people.
~Martina Navratilova
I couldn't agree more with that. Society should be ashamed for creating such labels. People are who they want to be, not what they wear or how they look.

Stay off the path,
Conan the Librarian

Facebook "Crowd."

Dear Readers,

I know what you're probably thinking.
"Oh geez... He's already talking about Facebook?!"
Just hear me out though...

It seems as though I come across this more and more everyday. Ever noticed how 99% of women on Facebook insist on making it the entire worlds business that there boyfriend is an asshole? Now, I'm not saying it's just the women that are the problem. Far from it actually, but what I think bothers me the most is that if your boyfriend is such an ass then why are you still with him? Better yet, why do you insist on dating the ass over the nice guy? There are so many nice guys out there that just give up trying, because every girl either thinks they're either going to be another bad pick or because they know the girl they love is going to end up picking the ass anyway.

Now, on the other side of the fence there are perfectly nice women out there that are giving up on finding that special someone to treat them the way they deserve to be treated, because they've been mistreated so many times before. Women are being cheated on, lied to, stalked by past mistakes, mentally abused and beaten. But like I said previously it's not just one side or the other that's the problem. I just wish that people would just stop being so mean. That nice guys and girls were given a chance. And that the others would just change.

While I realise this ended up being less about Facebook than I had originally intended hopefully you all understood what I was trying to say.

Sincerely,
Conan the Librarian.

Dear World...

Dear World,

     Well, first things first...

Obviously, my name isn't Conan the Librarian nor is it "Barbarian." I am simply a person. A person with opinions, ideas and thoughts and well lets face facts, society has become very judgemental. So very judgemental, that I will remain anonymous, but you can call me Conan if you'd like.

A little about me would do some good, right? I suppose so... For starters I'm just your typical average person, living a typically average life. I've gone my entire life with people telling me that I'm very smart. Smart, but lazy... I can't say I disagree with them on that, I don't really apply myself to much of... Well, anything really. I spend a lot of time on the computer, usually. I enjoy watching all types of movies and listen to a wide variety of music. Everything from Country to Techno, excluding one genre being Rap/Hip-hop. Honestly I don't understand how swearing and talking about drugs, alcohol and sex can be classified as music. Well, that's enough about me for now, I'm sure that if you keep reading you'll learn more about me in the future.

Let me wrap this up. I'm sure that this blog page may or may not be changing in appearance soon. So, stay tuned. Email me if you have any opinions, thoughts or input you'd like to share at CtheLibrarian@aim.com.

PS: Yes, it's "@aim" all ties into my anonymity.

Sincerely,
Conan the Librarian =]
